With roughly 200 million bogs occupying terabytes of data and everybody trying to get across a point it’s almost inevitable that you decide to slap on a few blocks of good ‘ol Google adsense and hope to make a few bucks here and there. Some of us do, some of us don’t.
Since I’ve seen so much around about how to optimize your site to make the most out of it I have decided to experiment for myself to increase my traffic as well as offer any advice that I can give on optimization. I do run some other blogs that do make some money with the program but this one just doesn’t seem to get up there for some odd reason.
A few reasons why I noticed is maybe there isn’t enough content. So from now I will try to write more thought out articles and provide something useful while figuring out the best way to optimize adsense and hopefully you will also benefit from it.
Recently I’ve noticed that Google finally decided to come clear about their adsense policy on images. You cannot actually display images next to your adsense blocks in a way that makes them look like part of the ads, which most people knew so they put a line. But now they have said that not only do you have to separate the images from the ads but make it distinctly known, as a faded out gray line was just not enough as most people have been doing.
It’s recommended to actually frame the entire ad box so they are seen visually separate from the images. The message they are giving us is to be visually clear and not mislead which I guess most of the people who have implemented it this way have been doing, and making tons I’m sure.
Well let’s see how this plays out into sites that make heavy use of imagery along with their ads. There is still that small piece of confusion left though when you read the following on their blog
“…if you run a stock photography site with a catalog of
thumbnail images, don’t line the ads up with the thumbnails in a way
that could be misleading. Consider using a full border around your ads
or changing your ad colors, for example.”

There are so many things I wonder about the way Google Adsense works. Thanks for clarifying that for me and hope to catch you soon!
Happy Holidays
